A business cash advance, also known as merchant cash advance, is similar to a payday advance loan. If a company needs an immediate influx of cash, it can sell its future earnings on credit card sales for a price to get them up front. For instance, a company that needs $10,000 in immediate capital may sell $13,000 worth of future sales to acquire that money when they need it.

A business cash advance generally is not a loan, therefore it will not show up on the company’s credit report. Due to the convenience it can be expensive, sometimes 30-35% of the advanced amount, and require a quicker pay than a more traditional business loan. To be eligible for a cash advance, a business generally has to do more than $3,000 a month in credit card transactions, not be currently working with a different advance provider, and not have any existing liens on the business.
