Can Green Buildings Generate More Jobs?

According to recent studies from the U.S. Green Building Council of Washington, D.C., green buildings will generate 7.9 million jobs in the U.S. fueling the American economy with 554 billion dollars. This amount includes $396 billion in wages between 2009 through 2013. Currently, green construction provides American with more than 2 million jobs and produces more than $100 billion in wages and gross domestic product.

From 2000 to 2008 the green construction movement had a huge impact on the market. Since the year 2000, green construction contributed nearly $178 billion to the U.S. gross domestic product and supplied 2.4 million direct and indirect jobs, as well as $123 billion in wages. The study considered the total employment value of green buildings in recognition of how extensive the impact of green building is. Green buildings can consist of residential steel  buildings or general steel buildings. The success of the structure depends on the skills of the architects who designed the steel buildings to the construction crew who laid the foundations to the drivers who transport the materials.
